EMDR INTENSIVE THERAPY

Make progress towards your goal, fast.

You’ve tried once a week therapy, with little luck…now quickly work through what makes you feel stuck

An intensive is for someone who feels stuck in the same emotional loop and wants change faster or more efficiently. This option is for someone that prefers deep, focused work rather than small pieces over time.

This is for you if you’re tired of feeling caught in the cycle of feeling triggered and then feeling frustrated with yourself for it or feeling like you’re making progress…then ending up right back in the same place over and over again.

how i can help

EMDR therapy can help you .

EMDR can help shift upsetting memories so that they no longer trigger the same strong emotional or body reaction.

Change the negative beliefs about yourself, such as “I’m not good enough”, or “it was my fault”, or “I have to be perfect to be loved”. We will tailor these specifically to you and replace these with healthier beliefs, such as feeling safer, stronger, or more capable.

Many people feel more relaxed and grounded over time.

After EMDR, people often notice they can pause before reacting, feel less overwhelmed, handle reminders or stressors more easily

We will improve confidence and self-trust. Give you more control over your emotions and feel more connected to yourself and others.

We will work on healing patterns, not just single events, such as people pleasing, avoidance, or fear.

Common questions about intensive therapy

  • The amount of time we take to complete a target depends on a few factors. The first being, what grounding strategies you already have and how useful these are to navigate difficult emotions.

Another factor is how many targets you’d like to work on. If we have one specific target, this could take one to two 3 hour sessions once we are in the processing stage of therapy.

  • EMDR has 8 structured phases.

    1 - History Taking

2 - Resourcing (this is where we ensure you have plenty of grounding strategies to navigate difficult emotions)

3 - Assessment (we will identify Negative Cognitions and tie these to a specific memory to process)

4 - Desensitization (we will work with this memory until it reaches a 0 or a 1 out of 10)

5 - Installation (we will strengthen a positive belief)

6- Body Scan (check body sensations to see if there is any tension and discomfort and resolve these)

7-Closure (each session ends with stabilization)

8- Reevaluation (check progress, ensure the memory remains distress free and decide what to work on next)
